Condition in which patches of endometrial tissue escape the uterus & become attached to other structures in the pelvic cavity
Uterine prolapse
AKA pelvic floor hernia, a condition in which weakening of pelvic muscles & supportive tissues allows the uterus to slide from its normal position in the pelvic cavity & sag into vagina
Leukorrhea
A whitish mucus discharge from the uterus & vagina
Vaginismus
Involuntary spasm of the pelvic floor muscles, which close off the vagina

An increased concentration of creatinine in the urine
Glycosuria
Presence of glucose in urine (commonly caused by untreated diabetes)

Presence of blood in urine. Can be caused by kidney stones, infection, kidney damage, or bladder cancer
Ketonuria
Presence of ketones in the urine (can indicate starvation or uncontrolled diabetes)

Presence of pus in the urine

Surgical puncture of the joint space to remove synovial fluid for analysis to determine the cause of pain or swelling in a joint

Puncture of the pericardial sac for the purpose of removing fluid
Radiopaque
The substance does not allow x rays to pass through and appears white/light gray on the resulting film
Computed tomography
A scan that uses a thin, fan shaped x-ray beam that rotates around the pt to produce multiple cross-sectional views of the body
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
uses a combination of radio waves & strong magnetic field to create signals that are sent to a computer & converted into images of any plane through the body

The visualization of body parts in motion by projecting x-ray images on a luminous fluorescent screen
