EKG Rhythm

Ventricular fibrillation (V-Fib)

Cause: MI, Heart Disease

Symptoms: No Pulse/Unresponsive

Treatment: CPR+Defib

Sinus Tachycardia

Causes: Pain, Dizzy, Lightheadedness

Symptoms: Pain, Fever, Dehydration, and Anxiety

Treatment: Underlying Cause

Sinus Bradycardia

Causes: Medication, Sleep, Athletes, Vagal Stimulation

Symptoms: Dizziness, Fatigue, Hypotension

Treatment: Atropine ( if needed) * stimulates heartrates to increase, Walk

Normal Sinus Rhythm (NSR)

SA Node is firing normal ( 60-100bpm)

No Treatment Needed

Ventricular Tachycardia (V-Tach)

Causes: MI, electronic imbalance

Symptoms: Chest Pain, Hypotension

Treatment: Cardioversion(if they have pulse), CPR+Defib (No Pulse)

Premature Ventricular Contraction (PVC)

Causes: Stress, Caffeine, Hypoxia

Symptoms: Missed Heart Beats

Treatment: Limited Stress/Caffeine

Atrial Flutter

Causes: Heart Disease, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Alcohol

Symptoms: Sawtooth Patterns, Palpitations

Treatment: Rate Control, Antiarrhythmics (Cardioversions)

Atrial Fibrillation

Causes: Age, Heart Disease, Hypertension

Symptoms: Irregular Pulse, Palpitations

Treatment: Anticoagulation (blood thinners) EXP. Warphin *speeds up heartrate, Cardioversion

Supraventricular Tachycardia (SVT)

Cause: Stress, Athletes

Symptoms: sudden fast heartrate

Treatment: Vagal Maneuver, Adenosine, Cardioversion
