Describe the forces acting on an object when it is at rest.
All forces are balanced, to give a resultant force of 0N.
How do force vectors combine?
Their horizontal components and vertical components add, to give a resultant vector.
What is the Centre of Mass?
The point through which an object’s weight seems to act.
How can one find the Centre of Mass of an object?
By hanging an object from different points (at least 2 for a 2D shape, or 3 for a 3D shape), and marking the direction of the force of gravity using a reference mass. The intersection of the lines/planes will give the Centre of Mass.
