Keep PT calm; Lean foward and pinch bridge of their nose for 3 min; have them blow out clots; if it bleeds for more than 8 minutes call 911
What is the procedure for SEZIURES
Call 911; STABILIZE HEAD; when shaking stops place in recovery position

Heat Exhaustion and Heat Stroke
What are the symptoms of HEAT EXHAUSTION
Sweating, Hyperventilating, Altered Mental Status (Can speak but doesnt make sense), High Body temp
How do you treat HEAT EXHAUSTION ****
Move to cold area, take off clothes, elevate feet, hydrate/electrolytes, cool ice packs
What are the symptoms of HEAT STROKE
STOPS SWEATING, very high body temp, ENHANCED RESPIRATORY DISTRESS, prolonged heat exhaustion
How do you treat HEAT STROKE
CALL 911, move to cool area, take off clothes, elevate feet, cool ice packs
How to treat PANIC ATTACKS
Take out of stressful area, BOX BREATHING, DISTRACT THEM WITH OTHER THINGS, Be patient, Find an RA or Mental Health Professional
What is the ABC acronym
Airway: Head tilt chin lift; Jaw Thrust (make sure they are breathing)
Breathing: Analyze depth/volume/breaths per minute/chest rise
Circulation: Pulse/Bleeding

Alert: Patient is fully awake and aware

NECK: Carotid Artery
WRIST: Radial Artery
What is the procedure for CPR
Only administer if the patient is not breathing and no pulse; POINT DIRECTLY AT SOMEONE AND TELL THEM TO CALL 911; TELL ANOTHER PERSON TO GET AN AED (Defib); head tilt chin lift for airways; Chest Compression at 100-120 BPM; Provide 2 RESCUE BREATHS EVERY 30 COMPRESSIONS
DO NOT STOP UNTIL VT RESCUE ARRIVES
What is the procedure for wearing gloves
Ideally Wearing Gloves all the time
MUST WEAR GLOVES WHEN DEALING WITH BODILY FLUIDS (spit, blood, etc)

Check for Pulse and Breathing, Check AVPU, Place in recovery position, CALL 911
What are the two types of Tourniquets
Hasty and Deliberate
What is a Hasty TQ
Placed as high as possible on extremity and really tight; put on OVER clothes; mark time when TQ is put on
What is a Deliberate TQ
3 in above wound; put on bare skin; mark time when TQ is put on
What is the procedure for Head/Neck Injuries
DO NOT MOVE FROM ORIGINAL POSITION; Stabilize head; do not move patient
What is the Med Staff procedure for administering Medication
The Med Staff cannot administer Medication (creams, ibuprofen, ointments, etc)
The only medication the Med Staff can administer is an Epi Pen. However this is only when there are clear signs of ANAPHLYAXSIS
What is an Epi Pen
It is adrenaline (epinephrine)
What is Anaphlyaxsis
A severe, life threatening allergic reaction that rapidly affects multiple body systems (shuts them down)
What are the symptoms of Anaphlyaxsis
SWELLING OF THE FACE AND THROAT; Breaking out into hives; making it hard to breath
