Fibroblasts - Function and Location
Function: secrete compounds of the matrix (produce fibres of GS) + form basement membrane
Location: widely distributed across CT (migratory)
Adipocytes - Function and Location
Function: store fat (triglycerides) —> seen as large vacuoles under a microscope
Location: under skin and around organs
Macrophages - Function + Location
Function: phagocytic
Fixed: dust cells in lung, kupffer cells in liver and Langehans cells in skin
Wandering: sites of infection
Plasma cells - Locations (6 main), Functions(2)
Locations: many CT but especially in gut, lung, salivary glands, spleen, red bone marrow and lymph nodes
Functions: from B lymphocytes these produce antibodies
Mast Cells - Location, Function
Location: alongside blood vessels
Function: produce histamine that dilates vessels
Leucocytes - what are + location
white blood cells e.g neutrophils and eosinophils
Location: migrate out from blood
