1

What is raw data

Unprocessed data that has Just been collected. Needs to be ordered, grouped , rounded, cleaned

New cards
2

what is Qualitative data

Non-numerical, descriptive data such as eye/hair colour or gender. It is usually more difficult to analyse.

New cards
3

what is Quantitative data

Numerical data that Can be measured with numbers. Easier to analyse than quantitative data. Example, height, weights, marks in an exam etc.

New cards
4

what is Discrete data

it Only takes particular values such as shoe size or number of people., It can be grouped into classes (0-11, 11-15), using smaller intervals when data is close together

New cards
5

what is continuous data

data that Can take any value e.g. height, weight., grouped using inequalities

New cards
6

what is categorical data

data that can be sorted into non-overlapping categories such as gender. Used for qualitative data as its easily processed.

New cards
7

what is ordinal data

quantitative data that can be given an order or ranked on a scale , e.g. marks in an exam.

New cards
8

what is bivariate data

Involves measuring 2 variables. Can be qualitative or quantitative, grouped or ungrouped. used with scatter diagrams where the two axes represent the two different variables.

New cards
9

what is multivariate data

dade that is made up of more than 2 variables, e.g=comparing height, weight, age together

New cards
10

what is grouping data

It uses table to spot patterns to see how it is distributed

New cards
11

Pros of continuous and discrete data

Makes data easy to read+ understand, easy to spot pattern and compare data

New cards
12

Cons of continuous and discrete data

Loses accuracy ass exact value is unknown, Calculations made is an estimate(e.g=mean)

New cards
13

what is primary data

Data you have collected, or collected on ur behalf

New cards
14

what is secondary data

data that has already been collected

New cards
15

Pros of primary data

accurate, collection method known

New cards
16

cons of primary data

time consuming, expensive

New cards
17

pros of secondary data

cheap, easy, quick, data from some organisations can be reliable

New cards
18

cons of secondary data

method of collection unknown, data can be out of date, can contain mistakes, may be from unreliable sources
