How does GPS work?
A GPS receiver determines a three-dimensional position in space by calculating multiple ranges from at least four satellites.
What are the types of GPS errors?
Accuracy error meanings how off set your readings are. Precision error meaning how close you readings are to each other
What are Accuracy Error sources
Atmospheric errors: Delays in signals caused by the ionosphere! It makes it seem like you are further than you are.
Multipath Errors: The GPS signal reflects off surfaces such as water.
What are Precision Error sources?
Signal Attenuation: interference with the signal, such as thick forests or urban areas.
Poor Satellite Geometry: If satellites are very close to each other, they can't be precise!
What are some ways to reduce Error? and how accurate are satellites?
Accurate to 3 - 5 M. Have clear skies and allow for stabilization!
