Oppositional Defiant Disorders
To be diagnosed, there must be a pattern of negative, hostile and defiant behaviors
Conduct Disorder
To be diagnosed, an individual must demonstrate a pattern of callous abd unemotional behavior in which other people’s rights are violated, norms are ignored, or rules are broken.
Impulse Control Diosorder
These disorders includes Intermittent explosive disorder and Trichotillomania (hair-pulling disorder)
Generalized Anxiety Disorder
Diagnosis of GAD requires at least 3 months of excessive anxiety and worry most days about two or more of the following: Family, Health, Finances, School.
Panic Disorder
Mimic heart problems, stomach problems and asthma
Social Anxiety Disorder
Exposed to strangers or scrutiny by other and worries about possibly doing something embarrassing
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
Some children develop ____ a rapid onset of this disorder after streptococal skin or throat infection
Posttraumatic Stress Disorder
In children with DD, this disorder may occur after physical abuse or injury that cause the disability
Skin Picking (Excoriation) Disorder
Medical affliction and other psychiatyric disorders must be eliminated from consideration to make this diagnosis.
Major Depression
In general, children with this disorder can be treated with this medication or psychotherapy or a combination of both
Bipolar Disorder
Individuals with this disorder are treated with mood stabilizer such as LIthium and Antiepileptic medication.
Psychotic Disorder
This disorder consist of alteration in thinking or perceptions that are not connected with reality
Rumination
The treatment for this disorder is behavior interventions and the use of gi motility agents
Binge Eating
Children with this disorder need nutritional guidance and counseling, parental and school oversight of meals limited access to food outside of meals and an excercise routine
Pica
Behavioral management techniques have been found to be the most effective intervention for this disorder.
Adjustment Disorder
These disorders involve the development of emotional or behavioral symptoms in response to an identifiable stressor and occur within 3 months of the onset of the stressor.
Antipsychotic Medications
These medications have been used to treat aggression and SIB in children with Intellectual disability or ASD
Benzodiazepines
Children with DD may have paradoxical reactions to these medications
Mood Stabilizers
These classifications are commonly used to treat bipolar disorder and aggressive behaviors
Stimulants
Side effects include loss of appetite, insomnia, tics, headache and GI side effects.
