Personality Disorders
characterized by enduring patterns of internal experience and behavior that is deviant from one’s culture

begins in early adolescence or early adulthood
is stable over time
leads to personal distress or impairment
Cluster A- odd or eccentric cluster
Paranoid and schizoid
Paranoid
pattern of distrust and suspiciousness such that others’ motives are interpreted as malevolent
Schizoid
pattern of detachment from social relationships and a restricted range of emotion expression, don’t care about relationships, likes being alone, doesn’t want to have sexual intercourse
Cluster B- dramatic, emotional, or erratic cluster
Narcissistic
Pattern of grandiosity, need for admiration, and lack of empathy, believes they are perfect, envious of others, arrogant of behavior
Histrionic
often want attention too, but in a different way. They might act overly dramatic or emotional to get attention from others, They can be very focused on how they appear to others and might dress or behave in ways that seem exaggerated or attention-seeking, They might feel uncomfortable when they are not the center of attention
Borderline
condition where someone has strong and intense emotions that can change quickly. People with BPD might feel very happy one moment, but then feel very sad, angry, or upset the next. These emotional changes can sometimes be really hard for them to control
Antisocial/sociopathic
pattern of disregard for, and violation of, the rights of others, repeatedly doing things 2 lie, aggressiveness, lack of remorse
