Information Processing Cycle
The cycle a computer uses: Input, Processing, Output, and Storage.
Computer
A device that accepts input, processes data, and outputs the results.
Hardware
The physical device of a computer. Any part you can touch.
Software
Programs put together for a specific purpose, such as Windows, Mac OS, or iOS.
Computer Program
A set of instructions that directs the computer to perform tasks.
Data
Individual facts or pieces of information.
Backstage View
Accessed by clicking the File Tab in Office applications. Used for common tasks like Save, Open, Print, and Share.
Word Wrap
Text automatically moves to the next line when it reaches the right margin.
Show/Hide
A feature that displays or hides formatting characters in a document.
Worksheet
An electronic ledger for data entry.
Row
A horizontal group of cells, identified by numbers.
Column
A vertical group of cells, identified by letters.
Cell
The intersection of a column and a row.
Cell Range
A contiguous group of cells.
Formula Bar
Area for data entry located below the ribbon and above the worksheet grid.
Name Box
The left side of the Formula Bar; it displays the address of the selected cell.
Status Bar
Appears at the bottom of the worksheet grid; displays info like count, average, and sum of selected values.
Cell Reference
A cell's address.
Relative Reference
A cell reference that adjusts when the formula is copied.
Absolute Reference
A cell reference that remains constant when the formula is copied.
Mixed Reference
A cell reference with a row position that stays constant with a changing column position.
Vertical
Up and Down; north to south.
Horizontal
Side to side; east to west.
Folder
A container used to store files.
Clipboard
Temporary storage area for copied, cut, or moved information.
Insertion Point
A blinking vertical line that indicates where text or graphics will be inserted.
Mini Toolbar
A small toolbar with frequently used format commands that appears when text or graphics is selected.
Design and Layout Tabs
Two additional tabs that appear in Word when a table is active.
Ctrl+A
Shortcut key to select everything in a Word document.

File
A collection of information stored under a single name.
Excel Formula
All Excel formulas begin with an '=' sign.
Presentation
A series of slides.
Thumbnail Pane
Miniature slides for quick navigation.
Slide Pane
Area where you can modify slides.
Note Pane
Area to type notes about the current slide.
Placeholder
Container on a slide that holds text or other content.
Output
Processed results provided by a computer.
