Cornea
The transparent front part of the eye that covers the iris, pupil, and anterior chamber, and provides most of the eye's optical power.
Pupil
The opening in the center of the iris that allows light to enter the eye.
Aqueous Humor
The clear fluid that fills the space between the cornea and the lens, providing nutrients to the eye and maintaining intraocular pressure.
Iris
The colored part of the eye, which controls the size of the pupil and thus the amount of light that enters.
Lens
A transparent structure behind the iris that focuses light onto the retina.
Vitreous Body
The gel-like substance that fills the space between the lens and the retina, helping maintain the eye's shape.
Retina
The light-sensitive layer of tissue at the back of the eye that converts light into neural signals.
Sclera
The white outer coating of the eyeball, providing structure and protection.
Optic Nerve
The nerve that transmits visual information from the retina to the brain.
Conjunctiva
The thin, transparent membrane covering the front of the eye and lining the eyelids.
Dry Eye
A condition where the eyes do not produce enough tears or the right quality of tears to keep the eyes wet.
Keratoconus
A progressive eye disease in which the cornea becomes thin and develops a cone-like bulge, causing visual distortion.
Lacrimal Fluid
Fluid produced by the lacrimal glands that contains salts and proteins, essential for maintaining eye health.
Tear Film
A thin layer of tears that covers the surface of the eye, consisting of lipid, aqueous, and mucus layers.
Ciliary Muscles
Muscles that control the shape of the lens and thus affect the eye's focus.
Fovea
The small pit in the retina responsible for sharp central vision.
Visual Axis
The line of sight that extends from an object to the eye's retina.
Blind Spot
The area of the retina without photoreceptor cells, where the optic nerve exits the eye.
Sclero-Corneal Coat
The outer fibrous layer of the eye, comprising the sclera and cornea.
