Written when 18. Lots of influence from Haydn. All mvts excpect first show folk influence including the allegretto, which is like a peasent’s dance, and the trio from the 3rd mvt that has a landler-like quality (dance in ¾ that was characterised originally by stamping and hopping then became more gentler). final mvt is striking with a vigourous tarantella rhythmns and bold harmonies

variety of dance and folk elements. most obvious is tarantella - spider bites in italy. fast in 6/8. characterised by repeated quavers and a distinctive crotchet/quaver figure.
