What happens during fight or flight?

During the fight or flight response, the body reacts to a perceived threat by activating the sympathetic nervous system. This leads to the release of adrenaline from the adrenal medulla. As a result, heart rate increases, breathing becomes faster, and blood is directed away from non-essential functions like digestion to muscles. These changes prepare the body to either confront (fight) or escape (flight) the danger.
