• Causes Inflammation of the liver

• Transmitted by fecal matter in water/food

• Can cause juandice

• Not usually chronic

Variola

• Smallpox

• Very infectious

• Eliminated in the US

Polio

• Causes paralysis/loss of limb function

• No longer the live version

Influenza

• Booster every year b/c it’s created with the killed vaccine

Yellow Fever

• transmitted through mosquito

• Not given in US but are given is Africa and South America

• Causes Jaundice

Varicella

• Chickenpox

• Rash that turns into itchy, fluid filled blisters

• can lead to shingles later in life

Rotavirus

• Affects digestive system

• Symptoms are vomiting, diarrhea

Dengue Fever

• High fever

• transmitted through mosquitos

Ebola

• Mass inflammation and tissue damage

Tuberculosis

• Causes damage to lung tissue

Cholera

• Usually no symptoms but can cause watery diarrhea, vomiting which leads to dehydration

• Spread through contaminated water/food

• Preventative measures include sanitation of water and food supplies, proper sewage

Pneumonia

• attacks alveoli

• Leading cause of bacterial meningitis in children

Hepatitis B

• Bloodborne pathogen

• Symptom could be jaundice

• Can become chronic liver disease

• MMR Combined vaccine

• Airborne disease

Haemophilus Influenzae Type B

• Hib

• Spreads through respiratory droplets

• Cause menititis, epiglottis, pneumora, septic arthiris…

Diptheria

• Thick, gray coating in throat

• TDAP Vaccine (Tetanus, Diptheria, Pertusiss)
