What is a Business Process?
A collection of inter-related events, activities, and decision points that involve a number of actors and objects, which collectively lead to an outcome that is of value to at least one customer.
What is Total Quality Management (TQM)?
Focuses on continuously improving and sustaining the quality of products and services, with an emphasis on the products and services themselves.
What is Operations Management?
Managing physical and technical functions of organization, particularly those relating to production and manufacturing, often concerned with controlling an existing process.
What is Lean?
Originates from manufacturing; eliminates waste, i.e., activities that do not add value to the customer.
What is Six Sigma?
Originates from manufacturing; focuses on minimization of defects (errors) with a strong emphasis on measuring output of processes, especially in terms of quality.
What is Scientific Management according to Frederick W. Taylor?
Meticulously studying labor activities, providing work instructions for workers, managers oversee the productivity of groups of workers and units and their managers were structured hierarchically.
What are the reasons for the rise and fall of BPR?
Concept misuse, over-radicalism, and support immaturity.
What are the job functions of a Process Owner?
Plan and Organize Process, Monitor and Control Process, Process Execution.
What are the phases of the BPM Lifecycle?
Process discovery, Process identification, Process analysis, Process redesign, Process implementation, Process monitoring, Process architecture.
What is the role of a Process Owner in the BPM lifecycle?
Responsible for efficient and effective operation of a given process, including planning, organizing, and monitoring improvements.
What is the role of Process Participants in the BPM lifecycle?
Perform activities of the business process on a day-to-day basis and conduct routine work according to company standards.
What is the role of Process Analysts in the BPM lifecycle?
Conduct process identification, discovery, analysis, and redesign, and coordinate implementation and monitoring.
What is the role of a Process Methodologist in the BPM lifecycle?
Provides advice on methods, techniques, and software tools and coordinates technical training.
What is the role of System Engineers in the BPM lifecycle?
Translate requirements into system design and are responsible for implementation, testing, and deployment.
What is the role of a BPM Group (or BPM Center of Excellence) in the BPM lifecycle?
Responsible for preserving project knowledge, maintaining process architecture, prioritizing process redesign projects, and aligning BPM efforts with strategic goals.
