Aorta

 

Largest artery in the body.  Blood leaves the heart to the body through this artery.

Bronchi

Branches off the trachea that bring air in and out of the lungs.

Atria

Parts of the heart that receive blood from other parts of the body.

Kidneys

Filters blood and produces urine.

Arteries

Blood vessels that carry blood away from the heart.  Found throughout the body.

Large Intestine

Primarily responsible for water absorption from digested food.

Gall Bladder

Stores Bile.

Small Intestine

Absorbs nutrients from digested food back into the blood stream.

Pancreas

Produces digestive juices for the small intestine and also insulin to regulate blood glucose.

Ureters

Tubes that carry urine from the kidneys to the urinary bladder.

Lungs

Organ responsible for gas exchange.

Larynx

 

Another name for the voice box.  Found at the top of the trachea and contains vocal chords to produce sound.

Renal Artery and Vein

Carries blood to and from the kidneys

Esophagus

Muscular tube that connects the mouth to the stomach.

Urinary Bladder

Organ that stores urine.

Heart

Responsible for pumping blood around the organisms entire body.

Coronary Artery

Provides blood to the heart muscle itself.

Liver

Produces Bile.

Diaphragm

Muscle that separates the abdominal cavity from the thoracic region of the body.  Allows for lungs to inflate and deflate.  

Stomach

Muscular organ that churns food and contains hydrochloric acid.  Found before the small intestine.

Ventricles

Parts of the heart that pumps blood out of the heart.

Veins

Blood vessels that return blood to the heart.

Trachea

Tube that carries air between the mouth and the lungs.

Pulmonary Artery

Carries blood away from the heart and to the lungs.
