What was the Seven Year’s War/French and Indian War?

Conflict between Britain and France over control of Ohio River Valley. Britain gained Canada, land to the East of Mississippi River, and Florida. However, Britain was left in major debt which led to the end of salutary neglect.

What was Pontiac’s Rebellion?

When Britain captured French land to the west of the Mississippi River, the NA that had previously traded with the French were upset by Britains less considerate treatment. So native forces attacked British forts and settlements. Britain won but had to reconsider policies, so it issued the Proclamation of 1763 (banned colonists from settling west of the Appalachian Mountains).

Proclamation of 1763 and Declaratory Act (British Parliament had the right to tax and make laws for the colonies).

First Continental Congress- in response to Intolerable Acts, organized boycott of British goods

Second Continental Congress- in response to outbreak of fighting, created Continental Army, Declaration of Independence, acted as colonial government by managing war effort, money, and alliances
