Electromotive force (emf)
The maximum potential difference a battery or power source can give a circuit.
Electrical Current
The net amount of charge through a point in the circuit per unit time.
Ampere
Unit of electric current, equal to Coulomb/second.
Resistance
Opposition to the flow of electric current.
Resistivity (ρ)
Density of 'bumps' that slow down electrons in a conductor.
Ohm's Law
V = IR, where V is voltage, I is current, and R is resistance.
Ohm (Ω)
Unit of resistance.
Series Wiring
Components connected end to end in a circuit.
Parallel Wiring
Components connected such that both ends are connected providing multiple paths for current.
Kirchhoff’s Loop Law
The sum of the voltage drops in a closed loop equals the EMF.
