what is a titration
experiment that lets you see what volume of a reactant is needed to react completely with certain volume of another reactant
steps to titration (5)
measure out volume of alkali and put in flask w few drops indicator
fill burette with acid ,take reading and place alkali flask underneath it
first take rough titration to give approximate idea of how much acid needed to neutralise alkali
calculate amount of acid by subtracting initial from total
repeat and calculate mean
can you use universal indicator for titration
no, change is too gradual, colour change at exact point of neutralisation is needed.

has one distinct colour change as particular ph due to one colour changing compound
