Bipolar I
Alternation of major depressive episodes with full manic episodes.
At least one lifetime manic episode
Depression and hypomania may occur but not required.
Manic Episode
A distinct period of abnormally and persistently elevated, expansive, or irritable mood and abnormally and persistently increased activity or energy, lasting at least 1 week and present most day, nearly every day.
Hypomanic Episode
A distinct period of abnormally and persistently elevated, expensive, or irritable mood and abnormally and persistently increased activity or energy, lasting at least 4 consecutive days.
Bipolar II
Alternation of major depressive episodes with hypomanic episodes.
Cyclothymic disorder
Mood Disorder is characterized by alternating mood elevation and depression levels that are not as severe as manic or major depressive episodes. Symptoms has shown at least 1 year for children and 2 years for adults.
Short-Duration hypomanic episodes and major depressive episodes
Lasting 2-3 days
Has a history of one or more major depressive episodes in an individual whose presentation has never met the full criteria for a manic or hypomanic episode experienced two or more episodes of short-duration hypomania.
Hypomanic episodes with insufficient symptoms and major depressive episodes
A lifetime history of one or more depressive episodes in individuals whose presentation has never met the full criteria for a manic or hypomanic episode but who have experienced one or more episodes of hypomania that do not meet full symptomatic criteria.
Hypomanic episode without prior major depressive episode
One or more hypomanic episodes in an individual whose presentation has never met the full criteria for a major depressive episode or a manic episode
Short-duration cyclothymia
Multiple episodes of hypomanic symptoms that do not meet the criteria for a hypomanic episode and multiple episodes of depressive symptoms that do not meet the criteria for a major depressive episode.
Period of not less than 24 month or 1 year
Manic episode superimposed
This is for schizophrenia, schizophreniform disorder, delusional disorder, or other specified and unspecified schizophrenia spectrum and other psychotic disorders.
Depressive disorders
The common feature of this disorder is the presence of sad, empty, or irritable mood, accompanied by related changes that significantly affect the individual’s capacity to function.
Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder
A chronic severe, persistent irritability. This severe irritability has two prominent clinical manifestations, the first of which is frequent temper outbursts.
Over at least 1 year in 2 settings (places)
Common among children presenting to pediatric mental health clinics.
Onset: Before 10 years old and diagnosis should not be applied to children with a developmental age of younger than 6 years old.
Major Depressive Disorder
Symptoms lasting at least 2 weeks during which there is either depressed mood or the loss of interest or pleasure in all or nearly all activities for most of the day.
Persistent Depressive Disorder
Symptoms must be present for at least 2 years.
Mood disorder involves persistent depressed mood, with low self-esteem, withdrawal, pessimism, or dispair.
Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder
Duration is the majority of menstrual cycles
At least 5 symptoms must be present in the final week before the onset of menses
Recurrent brief depression
Presence of depressed mood and at least 4 other symptoms of depression for 2-13 days
12 consecutive months in an individual whose presentation has never met criteria for any other depressive or bipolar disorder
Short-Duration Depressive Episode
Last for 4-13 days
At least 4 - 8 symptoms of a major depressive episode are associated with clinically significant distress or impairment that persists for more than 4 days and less than 14 days.
The person never met criteria for any other depressive or bipolar disorder
Depressive Episode with insufficient symptoms
1 - 8 symptoms of MDE were showed
Clinically significant distress or impairment that persists for at least 2 weeks.
Never met criteria for any other depressive or bipolar disorder.
