Negation
The tilde always flips the truth value of what is to the right of the tilde.
Conjunction
Is only true if both sides of the conjunction are true.
Disjunction
Is false only if both sides are false.
Implication
Is only false if the left side is true and the right side is false.
Equivalence
Is true if the right & left sides have the same value, and false if the two sides have opposite values.
Step 1
The truth values for the simple statements are known in the first types of truth tables.
Step 2
Insert the truth tables.
Step 3
Determine which operator is the main operator.
Step 4
Determine the value of any negations that are connected to simple statements.
Step 5
Figure out the truth value of operators inside parentheses.
Step 6
Bring down the undetermined operators.
Step 7
Figure out the value of the next operator.
