liver
filters and removes harmful substances like alochol, drugs from the blood, produces bile, stores glucose as glycogen, converts ammonia to urea
kidneys
remove toxins from blood (urea and creatinine) and eliminate them through urine. regulate fluid balence, electrolyte balence, blood pressure regulation
spleen
filters blood for damaged red blood cells, white blood cells, removes them from circulation, it also stores blood.
Lung
gas exchange. facilitates transfer of oxygen from the air into the blood, and carbon dioxide from the blood gets expelled from the body.
Heart
circulates/pumps blood throughout the entire body. ensures that oxygenated blood gets to all of the organs/tissues, and that deoxygenated gets taken back to the lungs to get oxygenated again.
small intestine
absorption of nutrients into the bloodstream=main function
cecum
absorb the liquids and salts that remain after digestion (called chyme), microbrial fermentation, vitamin production, intiation of feces formation
large intestine
absorb water and electrolytes from undigested food, forming fecal matter
gonads
produce gametes and sex hormones
