Percentage yield formula
Percentage yield = Actual yield / Theoretical yield X 100
What is percentage yield measured in?
Can be measured in moles mass or litres as long as both the actual yield and theoretical yield are in the same unit
How to find the theoretical yield?
Find the amount of moles of a reactant and adjust ratio to find the moles of the product wanted. Find it as a mass and sub into percentage yield formula
What is the limiting reactant?
The reactant that determines the amount of product formed
How to find the limiting product?
Find the amount of moles of each reactant. The one with the least amount of moles is the limiting reactant
How to find the maximum amount of a product produced after finding the limiting reactant?
Ignore reactant that is not the limiting reactant. Find the amount of mass of the limiting reactant this is the maximum amount of a product that can be found
Moles formula (Volume in litres and molarity)
n = Vol (L) X M
Mass formula (relative molecular mass and moles)
Mass (g) = n X Mr
Number of particles formula
No. of particles = n X 6x10²³
