Table of function values
A table listing inputs x and their corresponding outputs f(x) to summarize function behavior at selected points.
Graph
A visual plot showing the relationship between x (horizontal axis) and f(x) (vertical axis) for a function.
Left-hand limit (x → a−)
The value that f(x) approaches as x approaches a from values less than a.
Right-hand limit (x → a+)
The value that f(x) approaches as x approaches a from values greater than a.
Limit at a point (x → a)
The value approached by f(x) from both sides as x approaches a; exists if left- and right-hand limits exist and are equal.
Function value at a point (f(a))
The value of the function when the input is exactly a.
6c exercise
A textbook exercise labeled 6c that asks to compute four quantities related to x approaching 1 from both sides and to evaluate f(1).
Printout
A hard copy of notes or source material brought to class for reference.
Notebook check
The instructor reviews a student’s notebook to ensure all concepts are noted and understood.
Posting
An online note or message shared by the instructor for students to study.
