DID
Dissociative disorder in which person develops two or more distinct personalities
Bliss Theory of DID
Person experiences early trauma (97% of people with DID)
Copes by creating an alternate personality to deal with it
People do this a lot; pretend to be someone they are not to get through a tough situation
Gifted in autohypnosis, this induces amnesia
Person makes a pattern of facing challenge with new personality

Was abused as a child, sold for sex and likely created alternate to deal with the pain and suffering she was dealing with
Later in life alternate was triggered by someone talking back at work
She went to prison and it did not help but second time in prison did

Very unacceptable and hard to integrate
Acting on a very crude emotion
Very other than you, very different something you can never do
When called upon to do unthinkable
Person cannot handle the thought of doing this, this causes them to dissociate and splits off into personality that can handle situation
Autohypnosis
Many people with DID say they felt very at home during hypnosis
They can wish for something to not be remembered

Help patient recognize problems (Show video of them switching and educate)

Integrate subpersonalities or establish one personality
Is DID real
Many people have tried to fake it to get out of criminal charges however, now it can be easily detected if someone is faking
