Gastrointestinal Tract
Refers to the stomach and intestines, along with their diseases.
Gastritis
Inflammation of the stomach lining.
Anorexia
Loss of appetite not solely linked to behavioral health issues.
Nausea
A feeling of sickness with an urge to vomit.
Emesis
Clinical term for vomiting; important for medical documentation.
Pylorospasm
Abnormal spasms of the pyloric sphincter, commonly seen in infants.
Pyloric Stenosis
Obstructive narrowing of the pyloric opening leading to severe spitting up in infants.
Gastric Ulcers
Open wounds in the stomach caused by acid, often found in the duodenum.
Stomach Cancer
Cancer of the stomach associated with risk factors like excessive alcohol and H. pylori infection.
Enteritis
Inflammation of the intestines.
Gastroenteritis
Inflammation of both stomach and intestines.
Malabsorption Syndrome
Group of symptoms indicating failure to absorb nutrients properly.
Mowel Digestion
Reduced nutrient absorption due to enzyme or bile salt deficiency.
Liver
Largest gland in the body, classified as an exocrine gland due to bile secretion.
Gallstones (Cholelithiasis)
Crystallized bile pigments and calcium salts that lead to cholecystitis.
Hepatitis
Inflammation of the liver that can be detected through palpation.
Cirrhosis
Degeneration of liver tissue, replaced with damaged tissue often resulting in portal hypertension.
Pancreatitis
Inflammation of the pancreas, often due to blocked ducts.
Cystic Fibrosis
Condition resulting in thick secretions obstructing pancreatic ducts.
Diabetes
A group of diseases affecting how the body uses blood sugar (glucose).
