What is Active Transport
Active transport moves substances from a more dilute solution to a more concentrated solution (against a concentration gradient)
What does Active Transport require
Energy from Respiration
What are the differences between Active Transport and Diffusion
In Diffusion particles move down the concentration gradient while in Active Transport they move against the concentration gradient
-Diffusion does not require energy while active transport does
How is Active Transport used in the guts
In the lumen we will found sugar molecules but concentration in the lumen is lower than concentration inside the cell so these sugars can’t diffuse into cell.Instead sugars are carried in by active transport
-Once in cells, the sugars can then be transported into the blood and carried around the body, for cells which can be used for respiration
Why do plants need mineral ions
For healthy growth
Describe the concentration between root hair cells and soil
The concentration of minerals is usually higher in the root hair cells than in the soil around them
How do Root hair cells take in minerals using Active Transport
Active transport is used to move kidneys ions into the cell. These ions are transported into xylem vessels and moved to the leafs
What do root hair cells contain
Mitochondria which is where aerobic respiration takes place for energy for active transport
Compare Active Transport,Osmosis and Diffusion
Osmosis and Diffusion don’t require energy while Active transport does
-Particles in Diffusion and Osmosis move down a concentration gradient while in active transport particles move against
-Osmosis happens in water while diffusion and active transport don’t.
