testosterone-male hormone responsible for maturation, develop muscle, deep voice, body hair

estrogen-female hormone responsible for maturation, develop breast, hips, body hair

menstrual cycle

monthly series of changes a women goes through in preperation for a possible pregnancy

ovulation

release of usually one mature egg, whcih moves along fallopian tube towards uterus

egg is only fertile for 24h

Ferilisation

fusion of male gamete(sperm) with female gamete(egg)→zygote

occurs in fallopian tube
sperm can survive in fallopian for up to five days

Pregnancy

when a fertilised egg (zygote) implants in the lining of the uterus

Uterus

organ where fetus grows + develops

thick walled muscular organ which has a lining rich in blood vessels

fertilised egg burrows into this lining
