What is homeostasis?
The maintenance of a constant internal environment
Why is homeostasis important?
To maintain enzyme activity and cell functions including growth, repair and controlled cell death
What does homeostasis control in the human body?
Blood glucose concentration, body temperature (thermoregulation) and water levels (osmoregulation)
What are used in automatic control systems and what do they do?
Nerves and hormonal communication are used to detect changes and respond to these changes
What are the parts of a control system?
Receptors, coordination centres and effectors
