Flexion
movement that decreases the angle between bone.
Extension
Increases the angle between bone.
Hyperextension
the extension of a joint beyond its usual range of motion
Abduction
lateral movement of a body part away from the midline of the body.
Adduction
The medial movement of a body part toward the midline of the body.
Circumduction
the circular movement of a limb or other body part, combining flexion, extension, abduction, and adduction.
Rotation
Turns the anterior surface of a body part either outward or inward
Pronation
medial rotation of the forearm so palm of hand is facing downward
Supination
lateral rotation of the forearm so palm of hand is facing upward
Inversion
the movement of the sole of the foot inward, towards the midline of the body.
Eversion
the movement of the sole of the foot outward, away from the midline of the body.
Plantar Flexion
the movement that decreases the angle between the foot and the leg, pointing the toes downward.
Dorsiflextion
the movement that increases the angle between the foot and the leg, pointing the toes upwards.
