Feeding groove on one side; some lack mitochondria

Elaborate, shell-like coverings; move via thin, thread-like pseudopodia. EX: foraminiferans, radiolarians

Alveolata

Have flattened vesicles (alveoli) under their plasma membrane. EX: dinoflagellates, ciliates, apicomplexans

Stramenopila

“Hairy” flagella in at least one life stage; includes multicellular protists. EX: diatoms, brown algae, water molds
