Formal = Large scale (usually factory), high level skill work, needs sizeable funding and equipment, often more than 100 workers, protection from danger, pays taxes to the government.
Informal = Small scale (could be on street corners), mostly low level skill work, needs little funding and equipment, usually only few workers or self employment, no protection for workers, doesn’t pay taxes.
