Non Parametric
Are not based on means and standard deviations. They are NOT based on variability.
Parametric Tests
Are based on means and standard deviations (variability)
However, sometimes we do not work with mean and standard deviation data in our studies
What type of tests are these?
a. T-test = Parametric
b. ANOVA= Parametric
c. Correlation and regression = Parametric
d. Chi-square = Nonparametric
Chi Square Test of Independence (χ²)
A non parametric test, used when you have frequency counts (how many people fall into each category)
It tells you whether the pattern you observed matches the pattern you expected
Chi Square Goodness of Fit test (χ²)
A non parametric test, It checks how well the observed counts match the expected counts.
—> RATIO 7: 3: 2
O= observed number of people
E= Expected number of people
Assumptions of Chi Square
The data could be nominal (we are using frequency)
Random sampling with replacement
The frequency within a cell should not be too small (less than 5 in a cell)
