Biodiversity
The variety of all living things, including diversity in genetics, species, and ecosystems.
Species
Any group of individuals that are capable of interbreeding with each other that can produce fertile offspring. This is referred to as reproductive isolation.
Population
A group of the same species living in a habitat at a particular time.
Community
All the living things that live in the same ecosystem; a collection of populations.
Ecosystem
The community of organisms as well as the physical environment. Includes biotic and abiotic factors.
Biotic Factors
Living components of an ecosystem.
Abiotic Factors
Non-living components of an ecosystem.
Diversity in Genes
The variety found in genes of species present in an environment. A diverse mix of genes reduces inbreeding and increases chance of survival.
Diversity in Species
The variety of different species living in an environment
Diversity in Ecosystems
The variety of ecosystems that have adapted to certain conditions.
