What is gel electrophoresis?
The process of separating DNA fragments based on size using electricity.
What end is DNA loaded on and why?
The negative end because DNA has a negative charge so it will flow towards the positive end
How can you tell if your PCR and plasmid isolation?
If the DNA fragments are the size of how many BP your PCR and plasmid isolation has 3000 and 5000 base pairs.
What is loading dye?
A mix of acidic die (the negative ions have color) that do not stick to the DNA just travel with it so you know when it falls off.
What is Smart Glo?
a stain that does stick to the DNA to make a visible picture of what you are seeing.
What is a DNA ladder?
A precut DNA in known lengths with the Hind III as the restriction endonuclease.
