The reactant in a chemical reaction that is consumed first, limiting the amount of product formed.

How to find the limiting reactant

  1. Taken the given value and multiple by mol/mass

  2. Mulitple by the mole ratio of given:product

  • Do this for all given values, the lowest of them is the limiting reactant

  • If the given value is already in moles just multiple by the mole ratio
