Jones and his men arrive at Animal Farm in an attempt to recapture the farm. Although Snowball was injured and a sheep was killed (along with a human stable-lad), the men were beaten and unsuccessful.

Snowball was blamed because of revenge.
"In sheer malignity, thinking to get back our plans and avenge himself for his ignominious expulsion, this traitor has crept here under cover of night and destroyed our work of nearly a year."
Why did the hens have to give up their eggs?
"Napoleon had accepted, through Whymper, a contract for four hundred eggs a week." This would pay for grain and meal (necessities) until not needed.

He is blamed for anything bad.

They confessed their crimes and are seen as a threat (possible revenge against him).

He was drunk!

They received a special education, piglets were discouraged from playing with the other animals, pigs had the right of way, and pigs could wear green ribbons on their tails on Sundays.

Being able to live the rest of their years in freedom with no worries.
