Prose
A form of literature that uses ordinary language and has a natural flow of speech.
Elements of Prose
Characters, Theme, Setting, Plot, Point of View, Mood, and Conflict.
Characters
The people or animals in the story, including their interactions and relationships.
Setting
The time and place in which a story occurs.
Plot
The sequence of events or what happens in the story.
Linear Plot
A plot type where actions or events are arranged chronologically.
Circular Plot
A plot that combines linear narrative with flashback, often repeating the opening scene toward the end.
En medias res
A technique where the story begins in the middle of the action.
Point of View
The perspective from which the story is told.
First-Person Point of View
The narrator is a character in the story and tells the story from their perspective.
Third-Person Point of View
The narrator is not a character in the story and refers to other characters by name or using he/she.
Theme
The lesson or message conveyed by the story.
Mood
The feeling created by the author through story details, setting, and imagery.
