Silver Sulfadiazine

Take on an empty stomach, 30 minutes - 1 hour before food

Pen Vee K

Shake well prior to use and discard any unused portion after 14 days

Amoxicillin

- take with food to decrease GI upset and discard any unused portion after 10 days

Amoxicillin + Clavulanate

-IV injection only

-reserved for suspected resistant infections

Cefepime

Toxicity: use associated with nephrotoxicity, ototoxicity (vestibular & auditory) and neurotoxicity

Aminoglycoside (DC)

Take with a full glass of water, and remain upright for at least 30 minutes

Doxycycline

Tendonitis, Tendon rupture, Peripheral neuropathy

Fluoroquinolone (DC)

May discolor urine. Take with food for increased absorption

Macrobid

IV infusion must be given over 60 minutes to avoid Red-Man Syndrome (RMS)

Vancomycin

Take with a full glass of water to avoid esophageal irritation. Oral solution stable for 14 days.

Clindamycin

May cause paresthesia (tingling in the extremities)

Nydrazid

May cause orange-red discoloration of excretion. Take on empty stomach with a full glass of water.
