Equilateral Triangle
A triangle with three congruent sides
Isosceles Triangle
A triangle with only two congruent sides
Scalene Triangle
A triangle with no congruent sides
Acute Triangle
A triangle whose angles are all acute. Angle measures are less than 90 degrees.
Obtuse Triangle
A triangle with an obtuse angle. One angle measure is more than 90 degrees.
Right Triangle
A triangle with a right angle.
Equiangular Triangle
A triangle whose angles are all congruent.
Hypotenuse
The side across from the right angle in a right triangle.
Base of an Isosceles Triangle
The side of an isosceles triangle that is not congruent to the other two sides.
Triangle Sum Theorem
The sum of the angles in a triangle is 180 degrees
Exterior Angle Theorem
The measure of an exterior angle of a triangle is equal to the sum of the measures of the two nonadjacent (far away) interior angles
Angle-Side-Angle (ASA)
If two angles and the side between the two angles in a triangle are congruent, then the two angles and the side in the middle of another triangle, make the two triangles congruent
Angle-Angle-Side (AAS)
If two angles and the side adjacent to the second angle of a triangle are congruent then, the two angles and the side adjacent to the second angle, make the two triangles congruent.
CPCTC
Two triangles are congruent if Corresponding Parts of Congruent Triangles are Congruent.
Base Angle Theorem
If two sides of a triangle are congruent, then the angles opposite them are congruent.
Hypotenuse Leg Congruence Theorem (HL)
If the hypotenuse and leg of a right triangle are congruent to the hypotenuse and leg of another right triangle, then the triangles are congruent.
Reflexive Property
An angle or a segment that is congruent to itself.
Side-Side-Side (SSS)
If three sides of one triangle are congruent to three sides of another triangle, then the triangles are congruent.
Side-Angle-Side (SAS)
If two sides and the angle between the two sides of one triangle are congruent, then the two sides and the angle between of another triangle, make the triangles congruent.
Perimeter of a Triangle
Adding all the sides.
