Acetylsalicylic Acid (ASA)
A medication classified as an antiplatelet, NSAID, antipyretic, and analgesic.
Mechanism of Action
Inactivates cyclooxygenase (COX) enzyme, decreasing prostaglandin production, reducing pain sensitivity and inflammation.
Indications for ASA
Used in treating Acute Coronary Syndrome, Acute Myocardial Infarction (MI), and unstable angina.
Contraindications for ASA
Not recommended for patients with GI bleed, asthmatics sensitive to ASA, or those with hypersensitivity.
