Translational motion
The linear motion of a rigid body when acted upon by a force, moving in a straight path in the direction of the force.
Rotational motion
The motion of a body that is pivoted at a point and rotates about an axis when a force is applied at a suitable point.
Pivot
The point about which a body rotates, such as the center of a wheel.
Torque
The turning effect of a force that causes a body to rotate about an axis.
Linear motion
Motion along a straight path resulting from a force acting on a rigid body.
