Ratio
A comparison of two quantities or measurements by division.
Rate
A ratio that compares quantities of different units.
Unit Rate
A rate that has a denominator of 1, representing one unit of a given quantity.
Proportion
A statement that two ratios are equal.
Terms of a Proportion
The four quantities in a proportion, where the first and fourth terms are called extremes, and the second and third terms are called means.
Fundamental Property of Proportions
The principle that in any proportion, the product of the means equals the product of the extremes.
Bpm (beats per minute)
The unit measure for heart rate.
Lowest Terms
A simplified form of a fraction or ratio where no common factors remain.
LCM (Least Common Multiple)
The smallest multiple that is common to two or more numbers.
Rational Number
A number that can be expressed as a fraction or ratio of two integers.
