Jil, how did the group decide to include Gaby's perspective/lens/conclusions into the overall presentation?

  • Making a major point that generative AI is taking over.

  • The overdependence on it is beginning to corrupt our society, which holds serious implications for the future.

  • Pulled evidence from her lens to support this idea.

2
New cards

Jil, how did the group decide to include Mia’s perspective/lens/conclusions into the overall presentation?

  • Used to question the morality of generative AI.

  • Being used as a weapon instead of a tool

  • Example: AI unconsented deepfakes and extracting peoples’ data.

  • Shaped our presentation.

3
New cards

Jil, how did the group decide to include Casey’s perspective/lens/conclusions into the overall presentation?

  • Used to introduce the negative impact generative AI has on the workforce.

  • Companies using AI = human workers displaced.

  • Economic lens → crucial in bringing these financial drawbacks to light.

  • Showed AI isn’t just affecting limited groups of people. In threatening the economy, it’s causing problems on a national scale.

4
New cards

Jil, give one specific way that your thinking changed as a result of learning about Gaby’s findings.

  • Putting generative AI usage in perspective.

  • It will only continue to evolve and damage more communities in the future, which is a very important discussion point.

  • Showed me how I shouldn’t just focus on current effects of generative AI right now → consider how it will impact the future

  • Potential to change the world for the worse.

5
New cards

Jil, give one specific way that your thinking changed as a result of learning about Mia’s findings.

  • Realized how truly destructive generative AI is.

  • Example: threatening people’s privacy

  • = Consequences often overlooked by organizations and society, who continue to blindly promote and use AI.

  • Lens taught me why this is an issue + why change is necessary.

6
New cards

Jil, give one specific way that your thinking changed as a result of learning about Casey’s findings.

  • Showed me how different lenses can tie into each other.

  • Her point how AI is taking over careers 🤝 as artists being replaced by generative AI systems.

7
New cards

Reflecting on your colleagues’ work, which one had the greatest impact on your overall understanding of the problem your group identified?

  • Gaby.

  • Our lenses zeroed-in on more particular issues with generative AI, but her lens addressed the limitations of AI as a whole.

  • Covered major points—such as AI’s spread of fake news, threats to cybersecurity, and attack on human authenticity.

  • Contributed to my general comprehension of the topic + Allowed me to grasp complex ideas.

8
New cards

What is an example of a compelling argument from one of your peer’s individual reports you decided to exclude from your presentation and why?

  • Mia’s.

  • Argued how generative AI violates many copyright laws by training off people’s work without consent.

  • Effectively disputed the integrity of generative AI, but was very specific and didn’t branch into our other lenses.

  • More suitable as an individual argument.

9
New cards

What is a way in which your team’s resolution makes you think differently about your own individual research?

  • See the full picture.

  • Solution one calls for policies to be implemented that restrict people’s AI usage. Also the solution best suited for addressing my individual argument.

  • Seeing other lenses → me now knowing this solution isn’t only most applicable in solving the problems within my lens. It’s universal.

10
New cards

Describe an argument from one of your peer’s individual reports that made you think differently about your team’s solution or conclusion.

  • Gaby’s.

  • Argued that the rise of generative AI is only putting privacy and data security at risk.

  • Made me favor the first solution is better when I before thought they were equal.

  • Restricting organizational and societal use of AI will effectively address AI’s invasion of people's privacy.

  • Solution 2 = more passive

11
New cards

If you had another team member, what other perspectives or limitations could they have researched that would have made a useful contribution to the project?

  • Environmentalist’s perspective.

  • Generative AI depletes the freshwater supply + consuming vast amounts of fossil fuels, hastening global warming.

  • If another team member had researched this, it would broaden our lenses and support our argument even further.
