what is economic globalisation
where trade, production and consumption have become globalised
many things consumed in the UK are produced and manufactured abroad → these productions are often done through TNCs that operate in multiple countries e.g. Shell
RESULT OF THIS- a decline in manufacturing jobs over the years (decrease occurs because these jobs are moved abroad to places like China) and most UK jobs and now service and leisure sectors
what is technological globalisation
the establishment of ICT companies like google and apple is a part of economic globalisation
these institutions are now involved in writing curriculums and providing online materials to governments around the world → education is now shaped a lot more by TNCs than it was before
this means corporations make a profit from providing this service to the government
what is cultural globalisation
the spread of ideas and values becoming more rapid around the globe
caused by the growth in ICT as communications technology made communication quick and convenient even with other countries
this type of globalisation includes the spread of music, fashion, consumer products, political and religious ideas
what is increasing migration
where more and more people are moving around the globe, making it a part of globalisation
people move for many reasons e.g. work, volunteering, education, war, disaster
the result of increased immigration means the UK is a much more multi-cultural society than it was in the 50s
