- Disagreements about what to do with Germany
although the Big Three still have a good relationship, leads to a second conference (Yalta, Feb 1945).

No formal agreement, but it was agreed in principle that the aim of the war was to bring about the unconditional surrender of Germany and that it should remain weak after the war
(war didn’t end until two years after this conference).

agreed that Poland should receive land from Germany, but the Soviet Union could keep land it had seized from Poland in 1939. This was very important to Stalin, whose ultimate aim was to secure his western border after the war.

Stalin was pleased that they were holding the second front in the West, initially he was concerned the West was delaying a second front so the USSR would be further weakened.

- Tension between Churchill and Roosevelt which lead to the threat of the Big Three becoming the Big Two due to good relations between Roosevelt and Stalin

The conference at Tehran had a positive impact on the relationship between the USA and Soviet Union:
Roosevelt had supported Stalin in attacking Germany from the West and not from the Balkans as Churchill had wanted
Stalin had agreed to support the USA in its war against Japan
