Buzzer
An audible alert device that sounds when activated, used to signal events like door entry in the project.
LED (Light Emitting Diode)
A diode that emits light when forward-biased (current flows in the allowed direction).
Prototype
A working model of a device built to test ideas before final production.
Device
An electronic circuit or system designed to perform a specific function.
Circuit
A closed path through which electric current can flow.
Series Circuit
A circuit where components are connected one after another and current is the same through all components.
Parallel Circuit
A circuit where components are connected across the same two points so currents can split.
Circuit Diagram
A schematic drawing of an electrical circuit using standard symbols.
Symbol
A simplified graphical representation of a component used in circuit diagrams.
Resistor
A component that resists current, causing a voltage drop; measured in ohms.
Battery
A source of electrical energy made of one or more cells.
Diode
A two-terminal device that conducts current in only one direction.
Ohm's Law
V = IR; the relationship between voltage, current, and resistance.
Resistance
Opposition to the flow of current; measured in ohms (Ω).
Voltage
Electrical potential difference that drives current in a circuit.
Current
Flow of electric charge through a circuit.
Resistor Color Codes
Color bands on resistors that indicate their resistance value.
Diode Orientation
The polarity of a diode (anode to positive, cathode to negative) to ensure proper conduction.
Design Brief
A document outlining the problem, objectives, and constraints of a project.
Specifications
Detailed requirements derived from the scenario that the design must meet.
Constraints
Limitations or restrictions that affect design choices (e.g., cost, size, safety).
Isometric Grid
A grid used to create isometric drawings that show 3D views of objects.
Exploded View
A diagram that shows how parts fit together by separating them apart.
2D Freehand Sketch
A simple, hand-drawn representation of a structure or circuit.
Packaging Design
The design of the housing/box to present and protect the device.
Surface Area
The total area of all surfaces of a 3D object, used for packaging calculations.
Volume
The amount of space occupied by a 3D object.
Rectangular Prism
A common box-shaped 3D solid with rectangular faces.
Output
The measurable result produced by the device (e.g., brightness, signal).
Problem Identification
The process of identifying and defining the problem to solve in the project.
