Main Skill Used: Agility
Agility is the ability to move quickly and change direction with control. This is essential in dodging defenders and pulling flags.
Downs
Each team has 4 downs (attempts) to reach the centerline (midline) or score. If they succeed, they get a new set of 4 downs to continue toward the end zone. If they fail, possession changes to the other team.
Line of Scrimmage
This is the imaginary line that separates the offense and defense before each play.
No player can cross this line until the play begins.
Quarterback (QB)
The Quarterback is the player who throws the ball to the receivers.
They start each play by receiving the snap and deciding whether to throw, hand-off, or run.
Center
The Center is the player who snaps the ball to the quarterback.
Interception
Occurs when a defensive player catches a pass that was meant for an offensive player.
This results in a turnover, giving the defense possession.
Fumble
Happens when a player loses control of the ball while running or while their flag is being pulled.
Offensive Strategy
Best strategy: Short, accurate passes and run plays.
Helps to move the ball consistently and avoid turnovers.
Passing Rules
After receiving a pass from the QB, a player cannot pass the ball forward again.
Lateral or backward passes are allowed as long as the ball hasn’t crossed the line of scrimmage and the player hasn’t been de-flagged.
Scoring
Score a touchdown by carrying or catching the ball in the opponent’s end zone.
Offense vs. Defense
Offense: The team with the ball, trying to score.
Defense: The team without the ball, trying to stop the offense from scoring.
Sportsmanship
Playing fair, respecting teammates and opponents, and handling wins and losses gracefully.
Important values: Respect, honesty, effort, and teamwork.
