What us the Axial Skeleton?

Forming the central core of the human body, it is the scaffolding to which all other parts of the body depend upon.

What is the spine?

24 individual vertebrae forming a gentle S curve connected by intervertebral discs and facet joints.

What is the thorax?

The space consisting of 12 pairs of ribs, housing the heart and the lungs with connections that allow for a significant range of motion.

What is the Diaphragm?

The largest muscle in the body and the most important for respiration, it is shaped like a dome
with two humps, bisecting the body, separating the contents of the thorax from the abdomen.

What kind of control do we have over the external intercostal muscles?

Direct Control

What is the concept of Boyle’s Law?

When gas is contained in an enclosure its pressure and volume will be inversely
proportional (if one goes up the other will go down,)
