Titration
A process used to determine the concentration of a solution by reacting it with a solution of known concentration.
NaOH
Sodium hydroxide, a chemical compound whose concentration is determined through titration in this experiment.
HCl
Hydrochloric acid, a solution with a known concentration (0.10 mol/L) used to titrate the NaOH solution.
Fenolftaleïne
An indicator used in the titration to visually determine the endpoint of the reaction (colorless).
Buret
A piece of lab equipment used to accurately dispense a known volume of liquid, used in this experiment to deliver the HCl solution.
Erlenmeyer flask
A conical flask used to hold the solution being titrated (NaOH) during the titration process.
M/V%
Mass/volume percentage, a way to express the concentration of a solution.
Volumetric material
Lab equipment such as a volumetric flask, pipet or buret, used to precisely measure volume.
